SPIRITUALITY AS THE CONTEXT FOR LEADERSHIP
KEYWORDS
Spirituality, Leadership, Personal Biases, Delimitations, Spiritualty
The recent developments in the theory and practice of management can be better understood and integrated into personal and organizational behavior via reference to spirituality as the context for purposeful behavior. The article presents these ideas with specific reference to developments in Northern Europe and India. It is argued that these developments can provide an expanded basis for reflection on the identity, purpose, responsibility and success of our organizations and their leaders. It will be argued in particular that the perspective from the “East” is a precondition for the successful development of leadership as it is evolving in the “West”.
