‘Understanding thyself in the context of Leadership’ deals with important aspects of leadership, and how it is important for a leader to understand himself before leading others and why some leaders are more successful or followed by others. Is this style, personality, intelligence that matters or there is a mix of all that are needed. Why a leader needs to know the role of this intelligence in future performance. This article deals with different types of intelligence and their relationship with effective leadership. This also talks a bit about theories such as ‘trait theory’ and ‘cognitive theory’, and how it is related and relevant when we talk about leadership. In all, this is an attempt of understanding leadership with the aspect of understanding oneself before leading others.
