The Indian Handicraft industry is unique in its nature due to the impact of Indian Culture and tradition. This industry has flourished since ancient times and continues to play a very important role in the rural economy and exports even today. This paper attempts to discuss the Handicraft industry from its origin to various cultural impacts on handicraft in different zones of India. It highlights the key problem areas of the Handicraft industry and attempts to provide adequate recommendations to overcome them.
