Academic and popular literature offers abundant perspectives regarding what it takes to be a leader in a business environment. But what does spirituality in business leadership look like. In 2010, the undergraduate business text book, Management by Schermerhorn, mentions and briefly defines spirituality in the workplace and its relationship to values based leadership. In my research, I have focused on the definition of spirituality in business and how it operates at work. I observed and interviewed individuals, specifically in top executive management, regarding how they operationalize spirituality in their business leadership practice. How should spirituality at work be defined? What does spirituality in business leadership look like? This paper explores these questions and provides a description of a spirituality leadership competency model.
